The QIR Software

QIR (Quantified Imaging Resource) is a powerful medical imaging tool developed in our laboratory. The QIR software manages cardio-vascular examinations from MRI, and extracts the principal physiological parameters. It is composed of a viewer allowing the management of DICOM format images. From this interface, the user can choose among three types of post-processing:

- The cardiac function evaluation (left and right cavity volumes, ejection fraction, myocardial thickness and thickening, myocardial mass, ...)

- The myocardial perfusion study (automatic classification of myocardial area according to its signal intensity versus time curves, delayed-enhancement post-processing, ...)

- The study of thoracic or abdominal aorta (3D-4D reconstruction, aortic compliance determination, pulse wave velocity study, ...)

Most of the post-processing is semi-automatic (delayed-enhancement image post-processing, myocardial thickness determination, ...) or completely automatic (volume and ejection fraction determination, aortic compliance, pulse wave veloccity study,...). The automatic methods are validated, and are highlighted by publication in international journal.

The specificity, its ease to use and the portability are the main advantages of the QIR software. This software is already used by the MRI department at the University Hospital of Dijon (FRANCE).

Cardiac function study module

The endocardial and the epicardial contours are drawn. The centreline method is used to evaluate the myocardial thickness and thickening.
